Building for the Future

While Holy Family Home continues to provide the loving care set forth by our foundress St. Jeanne Jugan, the building is nearly 50 years old and presents us with several serious and unsolvable challenges in the current space including:

  • Compliance with Pennsylvania’s updated fire safety codes

  • Constant need of repair to structural, plumbing and electrical systems

  • Required reconfiguration and new construction to provide the best care for our Residents through the aging process.

For these reasons, as well as the knowledge that the needs of our aging population require adaptation to new models of care such as aging in place, our entire Congregation has prioritized rebuilding Holy Family Home on our current site as part of its long-term strategic plan and its ongoing commitment to serving the elderly poor.

By building a more modern and manageable facility that structurally aligns with our charism of hospitality, we can dedicate ourselves more efficiently to maintaining a family-like atmosphere that enhances every Resident’s experience.

The cost to rebuild Holy Family Home is $45 million.

The new design of Holy Family Home will support Residents’ “Aging in Place.” This model of care allows them to remain in their original living space as we adjust their continuum of care to meet their changing needs and bring that care to them without the disruption of relocation to another room.

The rebuilding of Holy Family Home will be a multi-year project, with construction expected to begin in the Spring of 2022.
